General information filmoplast® R
- ultra-thin, transparent, technical Japanese-paper
- the paper neither contains lignin nor hemi-cellulose, but therefore a high percentage of alpha-cellulose
- coated on one side with a heat-activated, plasticizer-free acrylate copolymer
Areas of application
- for wood pulp board, manufacture approx from mid-19th century
- embedding of documents, newspapers or other archive documents with using a HSM Hot-Sealing-Machine
- repair of torn pages or patching missing sections (holes e.g.) in the document using the hot iron RT
Features / Product Properties
- 8.5 g/m2 light, transparent, technical Japanese paper
- coated with heatactivated acrylic-acid ester copolymer
- the paper is free of lignin and hemicellulose, with a high percentage of alpha cellulose
- the adhesive contains no softeners, is ageing-resistant, colourless and does not yellow
- Magnesium carbonate in the adhesive neutralises acids that may arise and migrate into the adhesive layer when paper fibres in old papers degrade
- the adhesive provides good adhesion with high bending stiffness, even repeated bending will not loosen the seal
- the sealing temperature must be over 100°C
- filmoplast R can be removed in water bath, with alcohol or heat (recommended).
- Attention! Please refer to the processing instructions in our technical data sheet.
Processing & Handling
- recommended temperature: > 100°C (approx. 212°F)
- possibly leads to bleeding of plasticized colours, own tests are necessary or will be issued on demand
- removable with acetone, alcohol or heat (recommended method)
- prior to detachment trials with acetone and alcohol, sufficient resistance of colours and inks against the solvents is to be tested
- prior to detachment trials with heat, reactivation (melting) by sufficient heating must be granted to ensure detachment without mechanical damage
- ALWAYS store the rolls together with the label respectively batch number! Without batch number or production number, no requests or claims can be accepted!
